Our Downtime Sleepy hat is completely safe when used appropriately. For the
safety and well-being of your child, please follow these guidelines.
Age 3 months or older.
You probably won't need to use our Sleepy hat until
your baby reaches the age of 3 months and becomes aware of the world. Nevertheless,
we recommend that the Sleepy hat isn't used in its sleep mode (sleep mask flipped
down) until your baby can pull the hat off if it bothered her. This age is
typically 3 months or older.
Not to be used in conjunction with swaddling.
While the Sleepy hat is breathable (just hold it up to your nose to experience
how breath flows easily through the fabric), your child should have his hands free
to pull off the hat if it becomes uncomfortable.
Be mindful of baby's tempertaure.
Babies can get overheated. Always be aware of room temperature and signs of
overheating. Remove hat if there is redness in face, baby feels hot
to the touch or sweat forms on the face and hair (felt by sliding your fingers
underneath the hat). In warmer months, you may wish to dress baby in just a diaper
and the Sleepy hat. Caregivers are responsible for ensuring that their child is
safe and comfortable.
Be aware of baby's emotional needs.
Keep baby comfortable emotionally, as well as physically. Until baby becomes
comfortable with the Sleepy hat, we recommend you be in close proximity to her
when the mask is flipped down. If baby awakens and cannot see, she may
need reassurance that she is not alone.
Keep away from flame.
The Downtime Sleepy hat is not considered children's sleepwear and is not flame
resistant.
